Questions people actually ask.
Straight answers, including the awkward ones about money and whether you need therapy instead.
Is coaching the same as therapy?
No. Therapy usually looks backwards to heal and treat — it can diagnose conditions and work with trauma and mental illness. Coaching looks forwards: where you are now, where you want to be, and what gets you there.
Plenty of people do both. If what you bring me belongs with a therapist, I'll say so directly and help you think about finding one. That's a good outcome, not a failed session.
How do I know if I need a coach?
If you keep having the same conversation with yourself and never quite getting anywhere — that's the moment coaching helps. You don't need a crisis or a big goal to justify it. "Something needs to change and I can't name it" is a completely normal place to start.
What happens on the free clarity call?
We talk for 20–30 minutes. You tell me what's going on, I ask questions, and we both find out whether working together makes sense. There's no charge, no obligation, and no sales pitch at the end. Many people leave that call with something useful even if they never book again.
How often would we meet, and for how long?
Most people start weekly or every other week, in sessions of about an hour. Some work with me for a few focused weeks on one decision; others stay for months while something bigger shifts. You're never locked into a length — we'll agree what makes sense and revisit it.
What does it cost?
The clarity call is free. Beyond that I'd rather give you a straight answer once I know what you're working on than publish a package that might not fit. Ask me on the call and I'll tell you plainly.
Do we have to meet in person?
No. Most sessions are by video and work anywhere. If you're in or near Louisville, Kentucky, in-person is an option. Phone calls are fine too.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. What you tell me stays between us. The narrow exceptions are the ones the law requires of anyone — a serious risk of harm to you or someone else. I'll always be upfront with you about that.
I'm not sure I'm the "coaching type."
Most people say some version of that. You don't need to be ambitious, organised, or good at talking about feelings. You need to be willing to be honest for an hour. That's genuinely the whole requirement.
What if I don't know what my goal is?
Then that's the first thing we work on, and it's one of the most common places to begin. You don't have to arrive with the question already worded correctly.
What if it's not working?
Tell me. I'd much rather hear "this isn't helping" than have you quietly stop booking. Sometimes it means changing how we work; sometimes it means I'm not the right coach for you, and I'd rather help you find the right one.
Who do you work with?
Adults of any background who want to move forward. I work with a lot of women navigating transitions, confidence, and boundaries — but the door is open to anyone ready for an honest conversation.
What if I'm in crisis right now?
Coaching isn't crisis care and I don't want you to wait on me. In the US, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, any time, free and confidential. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. Please reach for that first — I'll still be here afterwards.
Still wondering something? Ask me directly — gurlll.listen@gmail.com or 502-554-1189. No question is too small or too blunt.
Ready to move forward?
The first conversation is free, and there's nothing owed at the end of it.
